NOLA Lovin

So it has been a while, but after the whirlwind of graduation, surprise visits and our trip to New Orleans, IM BACK! and Don't think I came without pictures! I hadn't been to New Orleans since I lived there in Americorps, so it was nice to go back and do all the touristy things I hadn't been able to do before. We ate tons of amazing food, listened to some of the best musicians and did a lot of walking in the sticky heat! This city has more character and culture than almost any other I have been to, it was my goal to showcase those qualities with my photographs.... Enjoy!

(Obligatory photo of St. Louis Cathedral)

The architecture was fascinating and beautiful to me, and many of these buildings have some serious history behind them...

It was Nowhere Near Mardi Gras, but they were all prepared!!!

This building is said to be haunted with the ghosts of slaves that were hidden in the floor boards of the attic, which is why there is so much space above the door and the roof.... We didnt go in.....

And Of course the MUSICIANS! Always Unbelievable! And each band totally unique!

We were lucky enough to catch the oldest living performing jazz musician in the world! Lionel Ferbos is 99! (he's the old one in the middle)

The music rang constantly in the streets, wherever we went!

Rob asked this guy to play us a "goodbye Nola" song, and he sang us "Do you Know what it Means to Miss New Orleans" I cried.

Some fun random night shots...

This was an absinth bar in a little alley down the street from our hotel, and quickly became our favorite spot!

 She Pours the absinth..
Then puts a sugar cube over it...

And lights it on fire, so it caramelizes into the absinth

then she runs water over the rest of the sugar cube until its a full glass, and then BAM! a delicious drink which used to be used medicinally!
We ended up here most evenings!

Stay tuned for a Web Gallery of All the pictures I took during this trip, for now just a lagniappe for ya!
